Server data
The following data which your web browser transmits to us or to our web space provider is collected for technical reasons (server log files):
- Browser type and version
- Operating system used
- Website from which you access our page (referrer URL)
- Website you visit
- Date and time of your access
- Your internet protocol (IP) address
This anonymous data is stored separately from any personal data which you provide, and therefore cannot be associated with any specific person. It is analysed for statistical purposes, in order to optimise our website and our services.
Cookies
We use so-called cookies on our website, in order to recognise users/owners of internet connections if they visit our page multiple times. Cookies are small text files your web browser saves and stores on your computer. They are used to optimise our website and our services. The majority of these are “session cookies”, which are deleted after the end of your visit. However, some of these cookies deliver information which allows us to recognise you again automatically.
We recognise your computer using the IP address saved in the cookie. This information is used to optimise our services and make it easier for you to access our page.
You can change your browser settings to prevent cookies from being installed; however, please note that if you do so, you may not be able to use all functions of our website in full.
Contact options
On our website, we offer you the option of contacting us via e-mail and/or using the contact form. If a user completes the contact form, we store the data they provide for the purpose of processing the contact inquiry. Data is not transmitted to third parties. Data collected using the form is also not compared to any data collected by other components of our website.
Use of Google+ recommendation components
We use the “+1” button from the provider Google+ of the company Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043 USA, hereinafter referred to as “Google” on our website. Each time you access a page of our website that contains such a “+1” component, this component causes your browser to download a display of the component from Google. Because of this download, Google is informed which specific page of our website you are currently visiting. According to Google's statements, your visit is not analysed further
unless you are logged into your Google account. If you access our page while you are logged into Google, then when you press the “+1” button, Google can collect information on your Google account, the website you are recommending and your IP address, as well as other browser-specific information. This allows your “+1” recommendation to be stored and published. Your Google “+1” recommendation can then be combined as a notification with your account name and with any photo you have saved on Google in Google services, such as in search results or in your Google account, or elsewhere - such as on websites or online ads. In addition, Google can link your visit to our page with your data stored by Google. Google collects this information to improve its own services. If you want to prevent the aforementioned data collection by Google, you must log out of your Google account before you visit our website.
You can access the Google data protection notice on the “+1” button and all other information on how Google collects, transmits and uses data, your rights in this respect and your profile setting options here: developers.google.com/+/web/buttons-policy

We use components from the provider facebook.com on our website. Facebook is a service of facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA.
Each time you access one of the pages of our website that contains such a component, the component causes your browser to download a display of the components from facebook. Based on this process, facebook is informed which specific page of our website you are currently visiting.
If you access our page while you are logged into facebook, then facebook can see based on the information collected by the components which specific page you are visiting and can associate this information with your personal facebook account. For instance, if you click the “Like” button or add a comment, this information will be transmitted to your personal user account on facebook and saved there. In addition, the information that you visited our website is also transmitted to facebook. This information is transmitted whether or not you click the components.
If you want to prevent your data from being transmitted to or stored by facebook, and prevent facebook from receiving information on your use of our website, you must log out of facebook before you visit our page. Facebook's data privacy notice provides further information, in particular on how facebook collects and uses data,

Based on this process, Twitter is informed which specific page of our website you are currently visiting. We have no influence over the data Twitter collects in this respect, nor over the scope of data collected by Twitter. To our knowledge, Twitter collects the URL

Use of social media buttons with “Shariff”
We use the c’t project “Shariff” on our website. “Shariff” replaces commonly used share buttons for social networks, thereby protecting user surfing behaviour. “Shariff” integrates these Share buttons from the social networks on our website simply as graphics containing a link to the respective social networks. If you click a graphic, you will be forwarded to the specific network service. The Shariff button creates a direct contact between the social network and our visitors only if the user actively clicks the Share button. Only then will your data be transmitted to the social network. If you do not click the Shariff button,
no data will be exchanged between yourself and the social network. Further information on the c’t project “Shariff” is available at

Use of Google Adwords
In addition, we use the Google advertising tool “Google Adwords” to advertise for our website. In relation to this tool, we use the analytic service "Conversion Tracking" from Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043 USA, on our website, hereinafter referred to as “Google”. If you access our website via a Google ad, a cookie is saved on your computer. Cookies are small text files your web browser saves and stores on your computer. These so-called “conversion cookies” expire after 30 days and are not used to personally identify you. If you visit certain pages of our website while the cookie is still valid, we and Google can recognise that you as a user clicked on one of our ads placed with Google to access our page. Google uses information collected with “conversion cookies” to create visitor statistics for our website. These statistics tell us the total number of users who clicked on our ads, as well as which pages of our website the specific users then accessed. We and other advertisers using “Google AdWords”, however, do not receive any information that could be used to personally identify users.
You can prevent the installation of “conversion cookies” by changing your browser settings accordingly, for instance using the browser setting that automatically deactivates the saving of any cookies, or specifically blocks cookies from the domain “googleadservices.com”. The Google Data protection declaration on this service is available at the following link:

Use of ajax.googleapis.com/ jQuery
We use Ajax and jQuery technologies on this website in order to optimise our page loading speed. Program libraries are accessed from Google servers to do so. The Google CDN (content delivery network) is used. If you previously used jQuery on another Google CDN website, then your browser will access the copy saved in the cache. If you have not done so, then you will need to download it, and data will be transmitted from your browser to Google!Inc. (“Google”). Your data will be transmitted to the USA. Further information is available in the Google Data privacy notice,
which is available here: policies.google.com/privacy
